The boat trip is the only way for a woman to see the monasteries of Mount Athos, although the view from the sea is obviously limited. The recorded guide speaks several languages, including Italian, and there are no stops except at the end of the tour, on the island of Ammouliani. In my case, the stop for a swim was at Alikes beach.
