What to Expect

Join a day trip from Chania and embark on an outdoor adventure in Samaria Gorge National Park. Your journey begins with a pickup from Rethymno and a drive to Omalos in the majestic White Mountains. Enjoy a hearty breakfast before starting your challenging 18-kilometer hike through rocky paths, ancient forests, and along a river with fresh-water springs, all while keeping an eye out for wild mountain goats.

After breakfast, enter the breathtaking Samaria Gorge and hike at your own pace, with your friendly mountain escort positioned at the end of the group to assist if necessary. Your guide, who speaks English, German, and French, will provide an overview of the hike and hand out your entrance and ferry tickets, which you'll need to pay for upon arrival. The trek concludes in the picturesque village of Agia Roumeli, home to numerous taverns, bars, and shops.

Savor some free time to swim or have lunch before meeting your guide to collect your ferry tickets. In the late afternoon, board a boat from Agia Roumeli to Sfakia, where a bus will be waiting to take you back to the pickup point. This tour, perfect for nature lovers and families with children that are 5 years or older, is roughly 12 hours long, promising a day full of unforgettable moments and stunning landscapes.

How to Get There

• Meeting time: 20 minutes before departure

• Pick up: If you want to use our pick up service from around the area, please let us know after completing the booking. We will pick you up at a designated point at or very near to your accommodation at the scheduled pickup time. Note that the pick up is for free for the area of Chania. If you are located outside this area, a surcharge may apply and must be paid on site. At the end of the trip, we will go back to our starting point, and if you used our pick up service, you will be dropped off at the pick up point.
