If you are looking for a new adventure in Ericeira, the fishing town known for its surf vibes and its beautiful beaches on the western coast of Portugal, our surf lessons on Praia do Matadouro are the perfect opportunity for you.
Our certified instructors will be happy to help you bring your surfing technique to the next level. We offer group lessons for adults and separate ones for children, starting from the age of 4 years old. The maximum number of participants in our lessons is 6 per instructor, to allow both beginners and advanced surfers to profit from the helpful tips from our experienced professionals.
Meeting & Preparation
On the day of your surf lesson, come down to our base in Ericeira 5 minutes before the class. Our school is located right next to the main entrance of the Ericeira Camping. After receiving the appropriate equipment and meeting your instructor, we will head to the beach together. If you are staying in Ericeira, we also offer a free pick-up service. In case you want to reach our base by car, you can use our free car park. At our base there are also showers, lockers and changing rooms.
Start time
The start time depends on the tides to ensure the best conditions, so please plan some extra time on the day of your surf lesson. The exact start times are available in advance. We will inform you in time after you have completed the booking.

Surfing beginners at our school are typically able to:
- After 1 day: lay and balance on the surfboard, stand up
- After 2 days: apply basic manoeuvres, catch the first waves

Good to know
If you book the option with rental, you will be able to keep your equipment until 7 pm. If you book the lessons only, the equipment will only be included for the duration of the lesson: at the end of the lesson, you will have to return it.

Do I need to be a good swimmer, and what's the minimum age?
You need to have swimming ability to participate. The minimum age for the lessons is 4 years.
Why can the time of my lesson change, and how big is the group?
The start time is scheduled according to the tides to ensure the best surfing conditions. To provide personal guidance, groups are kept small with a maximum of 6 participants per instructor.
Is equipment included, and what do I need to bring?
Yes, a surfboard and wetsuit are included for the duration of the lesson. You should bring your own swimwear, a towel, and a bottle of water.
