What to Expect

Discover the wonders of Crete with a visit to Amazonas Park and an Olive Oil tour at the Vassilakis Estate. The trip begins with a comfortable ride in a modern bus equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Our first stop is Amazonas Park, a private zoo in the northeast of Crete. Here, you will encounter a wide variety of South American animals, especially parrots and monkeys. The park also features domestic animals like donkeys and goats. Friendly staff members are available to answer any questions and provide a deeper understanding of the animals.

In Amazonas Park, you will have the opportunity to feed monkeys in their cage and walk with them. The aviaries are home to parrots from Latin America and cockatiels from Australia. A special highlight is the large aviary with bigger parrot species and enclosures with monkeys from Latin America and Madagascar. You can interact with Barbary apes from Gibraltar that freely roam and engage with visitors. This is a fantastic experience for families and children, making it a memorable part of your visit.

Next, we head to the Vassilakis Estate Olive Mill for a free 60-minute Olive tour conducted by a member of the Vassilakis family. You will learn about the production of Olive Oil, both past and present, and visit the outdoor olive museum, which features the original 1865 family stone mill. The tour concludes with an Olive Oil tasting session where you can learn to recognize superior olive oil and have the opportunity to purchase award-winning olive oils and other local products. This tour offers a unique insight into the rich agricultural heritage of Crete.
