Join us on this day trip to Saranda and Butrint National Park and enjoy the magical history of Albania! We depart from the main port of Corfu and directly set course to Saranda. After a quick passport control, we will board the bus and leave the port behind.
After a guided bus tour of around 30 minutes, we will arrive at the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site of Butrint. A professional guide will give you a tour through the Venetian tower and the remains of the theatre and Temple of Asclepius. You will also get to explore the ancient gymnasium, the Roman Baths and you will see the gorgeous mosaic of the Baptistery. The tour ends on the Cyclopean walls, where you will have a panoramic view of the lake and its surrounding nature.
Afterwards, we will go back to Saranda for a delicious buffet-style lunch. Here you will also have 1.5 hours of free time to stroll around the city. Late in the afternoon, we will return to the boat and take you back to Corfu.

Overall, a great experience with a few minor drawbacks. Despite the massive crowds at the port of Corfu (many different departures at once), we were directed to the right places efficiently, though it was a bit chaotic at times. The tour operator was Ionian Cruises.
Hotel pick-up was punctual, and our German-speaking tour group was thankfully small that day. The boat trip to Saranda took about an hour, followed by a bus ride of over an hour to Butrint due to traffic. In Butrint, we had a guided tour of the archaeological park. Unfortunately, it was too short and rushed. Our guide meant well but talked too much, leaving little time for independent exploration. The buffet in Butrint was decent and good. After the boat trip back, we had about 45 minutes in the city, which was too short. But the ship was already heading back.
